Pin Up Queens & Silver Screens Lyrics

All lyrics ©Ryan Oyer 2015

St. Cecilia
She’s a still life and my words a palette
On the silence where I paint my canvas
Well I know her like I know my favorite song
You should hear her when she lets me sing along

She makes me fall in love with every subject
Sing it out loud so that I don’t forget
What it’s like to leave your heart wide open
When everything it seems has all been broken

Bridge
When you’re feeling like your homesick for a place you’ve never been
Just let go of all your fears and come with me
She said

Chorus
Open up your eyes
Let the sound take you away
Open up your mind
Let me be your escape, your escape

She’s a siren screaming out a warning
Rising faster than each day that’s dawning
See the world through her kaleidoscopic eyes
You can hear her when she cries

Bridge
Chorus
Chorus

Maybe Katie

Your lips let go of mine and I admit to some surprise
They ever found themselves to meet in such a way
Held captive in my mind our skin released and intertwined
In some daydreams that I tried to hide away
Illumination settles in, never sure where to begin
The consequence of guilty pleasure flames

Bridge
You set fire to the blood within my veins
You set fire to the blood within my veins
You set fire to the blood within my veins
You set fire to the blood within my veins

Chorus
Hey Katie, I been thinking maybe
You were sent to save me
From me and all my maybes
Hey Katie, with that look you could slay me
& I’ve been thinking maybe
Maybe, Maybe Katie

Full of nervous butterflies, I caught you giving me the eye
I’m tempted to react in such a way
What I want I can’t decide, I always leave my exits wide
I’m bound to treat these feelings just the same
Confusion settles in, never sure where to begin
I’ll bottle up these feelings anyway

Bridge
Chorus
Chorus
Bridge

Hold On Love

Hold on love it will be ok
Don’t go wishing your dreams away
Take hold of my hand it will be ok
Remember tomorrow is a brand new day

Hold on love it will all be fine
Everything comes to you all in good time
Listen closely and the bells will chime
Everything’s clearer when you draw the line

Chorus
Keep holding on love
Keep holding on love
Keep holding on love
All your life.

Hold on love it will be alright
It won’t go happening to you overnight
Grab hold of your dreams with all of your might
Remember to shine it will be alright

Chorus

Hold on love it will be ok

We’ll See

Thank God I made it past 27
I’ll either die young or I’ll live forever
The radio taught me just how I could endeavor
To take a sad song and to make it better

I wanna burn out like a roman candle
If you were the eyes I’d want to be your apple
With me it’s not a game and it’s not a gamble
It’s taken this long for me to get a handle

Chorus
If you’re leaving will you take me when you go?
It’s been so long since we had the time ya know?

I wanna kiss you like it’s in the movies
The kind that almost stops my heart completely
You could say I’m hopeless but I mean it deeply
Look into these eyes you could see that it’s easy

We’ve known each other for what feels like a lifetime
I’ve often wondered if you could be mine
I thought I’d tell you but it’s never the right time
So I hide it in between these words and rhyme

Chorus

Do you feel like me?
Well I guess we’ll see

Hollywood

She’s a tall drink of water
Better drink it down slow
She’s a tall drink of water
Better drink it down slow
Your tank’s approaching empty
But ya still got miles to go

She’s a pin up beauty
Gotta get her off your wall
She’s a pin up beauty
Gotta get her off your wall
Your friends have all come warning
Son you know you’re gunna fall

She’s a hot-rod Mama
Gotta catch her if you can
She’s a hot-rod Mama
Gotta catch her if you can
When her Galaxy’s a revvin’
You better look out man

Chorus
Christine the pin up queen
She’s the best damn woman that I’ve ever seen
She’s got a lock on her heart that’d make you wish you had the key

She’s a tall drink of water
Better drink it down slow
She’s a tall drink of water
Better drink it down slow
Your tank’s approaching empty
But ya still got miles to go

Chorus
Chorus

Stay Around

They say you’re ready to leave Dear
I think that I’m ready too
I’ve done all that I need here
Cause I’ve met you

Chorus
If You want I could stay Around
If You want I could stay Around

Met you when we were younger
More than a few years ago
Gave me a life full of wonder
I thought you should know

Chorus

When my time is through
I wanna leave with you
Half a day ain’t too long to wait

Say you’re ready to leave Dear
I’m ready too
I’ve done all that I need here
Cause I’ve found you

Chorus

Intermission

Won’t you share your treats with me
I could give you something sweet
I could give you what you need
If you share your treats with me

Meet me in the lobby just before the sound of music starts
Like the butter on your popcorn well you know I’m gunna melt your heart

Won’t you share your treats with me
I could give you something sweet
I could give you what you need
If you share your treats with me
If you share your treats with me
If you share your treats with me

Number Nine

Drinking down a cocktail of anxiety and arrogance
You knew that she was trouble when she passed to you her second glance
All dolled up to the nines but she’s fine enough to give her a ten
And the high road is closing down much faster as you start to descend

She’s playful and flirtatious
It’s a deadly combination that’s contagious
And she’s gentle
And she’s subtle
Her seduction methods cause you to crumble

Chorus
And you’d give her your heart but she’s already stole it
The voice of your reason suddenly fell soft spoken
And whispers you’re the kind of trouble I’d be willing to try
So step right up and don’t be shy

Palms full of sweat as she kisses the nape of your neck
Your desire set on fire as you rifle through the consequence
Her reaction infuses then scatters your thoughts
To focus on feelings you felt you forgot
You found yourself lying in the arms of her temptation

Chorus

Is This What I’ve Been Waiting For?

She’s got looks that entice
When she walks into the room I’d like to gaze upon her twice
But my hearts impaired from my eyes fixed stare
And my mind is set on loop
Trying to figure through just what to do
To get closer to you

Are you the girl of my dreams?
I think I’ve seen you once or twice before
When I was asleep
But my mind is trying to toe the line
Of what to tell my feet
And my heart is once again deceived
By what my eyes do see

Chorus
You should see her when she’s dancing on the floor
Oh my Lord, is this what I’ve been waiting for?

Tell me what’s your game?
If you teach to me the rules do you think that I could play?
‘Cause it’s been too long since I’ve had fun
And I didn’t catch your name,
But it doesn’t matter anyway
‘Cause you’ve got my attention

Chorus

When She Comes Around

She’s like a force of nature
She’ll bring you to your knees
She’ll promise you her treasure
Hand you the receipt

Here she comes like a landslide
She’s gunna bring you down
She’ll pull the thorns from your pride
And put  ‘em in your crown

Chorus
When She Comes, She Comes Around
When She Comes, She Comes Around

Hear her name on the four winds
She’s gunna blow your mind
She’ll take account of your sins
From the pale horse she rides

She’ll make you bite the lightening
To tell her how it tastes
She’ll make you feel enlightened
Then lay your soul to waste

Chorus
Chorus
Chorus

The Traveler

When the weight of my world is too much for me
Could ya carry me, my love?
When the static alone is deafening
Would you shelter me, my love?

When the night is too dark, be a light for me
Would you shine for me, my love?
When it’s too much to take
Would you breathe with me?
Just breathe with me, my love?

Chorus 1
‘Cause this road is long
Far too long to be traveling alone
To where I belong, with you

And I’ll close my eyes when you sing for me
Would you sing for me? Would you sing for me, my love?
When the world starts to spin
Would you dance with me, would you dance with me, my love?

If we get to the top, could you fall for me?
Could you fall for me, my love?
If I’m going through hell,
Would you follow me? Would you follow me, my love?

Chorus 2
When we finally meet
Don’t you know I’ll be saving you a seat
Right next to me, for you

‘Cause this road is long
Far too long to be traveling alone
To where I belong, with you
29

Lazy Sunday afternoon, I woke up to the sound of the rain
In trying not to disturb you, I watched you while you dreamed away
Years from now you won’t give a damn, will you anyway?

I got so lost my feet didn’t travel far
Staring out a window with a head full of shooting stars
Couldn’t tell if it was you or twenty-nine breaking my heart
So I turned the record over

Hurt so bad but damn if I love the pain
Suppose it’s almost like I fell right in love with you again
Now the needle hits that record, I’m standing in the Carolina Rain

I ask myself the questions but the answers all remain the same
But now there’s one less person here to sit around and try and speculate
But I still leave that door open wide, just in case it rains

So take another sip and it will all slowly slip away
‘Cause I got things to do like get you off of my mind today
Sometimes you were out of sight, but I can’t see you anymore anyway
The record spins the world turns ‘round, what comes ‘round goes around now anyway

I got so lost my feet didn’t travel far
Staring out a window with a head full of shooting stars
Still wondering if it’s you or twenty-nine breaking my heart
Breaking my heart

Pin Up Queens & Silver Screens

Caffeine and Nicotine
Pin up queens and silver screens
Are going to be the death of you and me

Mistakes and heartbreaks
I pray the Lord my soul to take
If I should dream sometime before I wake

Photographs of better halves
Can I have your autograph?
Am I supposed to cry, or should I laugh?

Well I think I’ve seen this film somewhere before
Yeah I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this film before
Yeah I’m certain that I’ve seen this film before
And I don’t wanna see anymore

Gasoline in magazines
Trying to keep up with the scene
And remember all along that life’s a dream

Movie stars with old guitars
The best die young in classic cars
And I’ll meet you somewhere in between the bars

Wedding cakes and matinees
It’s all too much for me to take
Could you fix me up sometime before I break?

Chorus

Caffeine and Nicotine
Pin up queens and silver screens
Are going to be the death of me

Goodnight

Didn’t we make the best of all that came our way?
The day is over now, there’s nothing left to say
The city fell in love, they’re turning out the lights
Darling kiss me again, Goodnight.

Close your eyes, hold your body next to mine
Darling kiss me again, Goodnight.

Close your eyes, hold your body next to mine
Darling kiss me again, Goodnight.

Darling kiss me again, Goodnight.

"Right In Love", happy birthday to Metamorphosis, and more.

Hey guy's it's been a while since I posted so I figured I'd let everyone know what's been going on. Really soon the Ryan Oyer Band (Mike, Todd, Josh and I) will be releasing a new single called "Right In Love". The track was recorded live in front of an audience at Camp House in Chattanooga on May 31st by Jonny Ginese. We're gunna be releasing it as soon as we can and getting it out for everyone to hear. At the same time the plan is to offer the single for free to those who'd like to donate to a kickstarter as well as other goodies to begin the process of mixing/mastering/producing the rest of the live record. We're all really pleased with the work Jonny has done with this track and can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks we've chosen to have mixed etc. The track will also be available in digital download form on most online stores. Jonny will also be filming a video to introduce the record for kickstarter. Seeing as how the last one went so well, I believe this one will go just as well, especially once you guys hear "Right In Love". The other tracks we're hoping to release from the show are; Rock N Roll, Right In Love, Rabbit Hole (featuring Jessica Nunn), Pretty Girls, Collecting Butterflies, When She Comes Around, The Traveler (featuring Woodford Sessions), and Never Let Go. Also I've written 14 songs now that will be considered for the next studio album. The studio album is yet to be titled, but the original "phone home demos" or the E.T. Demos as I like to call them can be heard here The 14 songs in consideration right now are; Rock n Roll, Right In Love, Maybe Katie, The Traveler, Pretty Girls, 29, Hollywood, Hold On Love, This Tattered Quilt, Sunken Treasure, St. Cecilia, Is This What I've Been Waiting For?, When She Comes Around, and Goodnight. We plan to begin recording this album in the fall. In the meantime I hope you all will enjoy the new single. Happy 1st birthday to Metamorphosis! Cheers. -Ryan

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Hey guys here's an update on how the albums coming along and what's been going on in my music world. Well we're nearing the completion of "Metamorphosis" and I couldnt be happier with it. Songs have dropped in and out of favor but overall I feel that this will be a great record. (No wonder I spent two years working on it.) Working with Butch Ross and Michael McDade on this one has been a great dynamic. All of us have focused to get the best result with these tunes and brought them all to life for the album. So here's where you ome in. Within a few days a kickstarter/pre-order system will be launched and you guys will be helping to fund the making of this record. While the "work" is close to being finished there's a lot left to do to make this happen. We're adding some finishing touches on recording and mixing as we go. The next stage is to hand it off to Charles Allison at Spanner Sound to master the record (aka... make it listenable). Below i've included a short preview of what the album is sounding like in a video for the kickstarter project. Oh yeah and the band will be playing Nightfall June 22nd, so hope you all can come out! Peace and Love for now. Enjoy the preview.
